THE RESTING PLACE FAMILY

What We Believe

OUR MISSION

The lost found, the found free, and peace to reign because Jesus is Lord of all!

We exist for the lost to be found, the found to be free, and for peace to reign in our city because Jesus is Lord of all! We exalt King Jesus and want His Lordship to be made known. We see this mission as a progression and we hope to raise up peacemakers in the Tampa Bay Region who declare: Jesus Is Lord of All!

We want every person who does not know God to understand something vital. God is not mad at you, He is madly in love with you. You may think you’re worthless, but you’ve been wrong before… Jesus Christ, the One True God, thinks you are to die for. We would love to introduce you to the God of Love today!

Jesus did not just come to forgive you, He came to set you free! We believe that any measure of bondage in the life of the Believer is illegal according to the Finished Work of Christ. God wants you to have life and life abundantly every day you are on this earth! We want to see His kingdom come, His will be done in your life as it is in heaven. We would love to help you fully step into the freedom Christ paid for you to have today!

Blessed are the peacemakers. We are called to bring the “shalom” of Heaven to our region. Shalom is the Hebrew word for peace and it means nothing missing or lacking. We are rising up to be those who fill in the gaps and making every low place high and every crooked path straight. We want our region to look like Heaven and therefore hasten the day of the Lord’s return. We would love to be a part of launching you into your destiny as a peacemaker!

OUR CORE VALUES

Our values guide everything we do.

As a church, we have to constantly make decisions about how to better serve our communities. We do this by listening to the Holy Spirit and by using our core values as our North star.

To properly assign value to every kind of person.

Honor is not agreement. Honor means “to assign value.” We first honor Jesus Christ for all he has completed on our behalf and the way He leads us in Love, becoming a servant to all mankind.

We then honor the Christ in others who have come into Union with Jesus and their destiny in God. We honor their call above their circumstance and call them up into God’s vision for their life. We finally honor everyone who is on God’s green earth according to their unfolding destiny and not their history. We honor EVERY PERSON made to carry the image of God, which is to say we honor every person. Honor is our perspective towards God and all mankind.

To give strength and confidence for every person to walk in Godliness.

We inspire those around us by believing in them more than they believe in themselves. We impart the grace to accomplish the call on their life by spurring them on to believe they can do anything in partnership with God.

We give opportunity to those we inspire to grow and to go. We give them chances to fly and cheer them on towards taking risks and passionately pursuing Gods vision for their life.

We support those who take these opportunities with resources and backing. If we have it, we give it to see these world changers become everything they are called to be. We recognize that not everyone is to be empowered at the same level but we will always lovingly confront to the same degree in which we empower.

To be divinely persuaded that every kind of person is a candidate for the Love of God

Our absolute truth is this: nothing is impossible for us. God has given us His Spirit without measure and we are able to co-labor with the God-head to see Heaven come to earth. This includes seeing every lost person found and everyone found person free.

Our method of Faith is simple: we take risks. We are not content with hearing about the move of God in the earth, we will become the move of God in the earth.

It’s no longer us who lives but Christ so we expect to think with His mind, speak with His mouth, reach with His hands and go with His feet. Where we go, the King and the Kingdom comes in its fullness!

VISION STATEMENT

Our bold vision.

We see the righteousness of God becoming attractive again as it was in the days of Jesus. We see a people so in love with their Journey in God that others beg to join them on The Way. We see thousands coming to the Lord every week in the Tampa Bay Region.

We see passionate worshippers from all backgrounds and cultures raising the same banner of love over Tampa Bay. We see multiple generations holding hands and taking each other into their arms while celebrating the goodness of God in their midst.

We see a fruitful people filled with passionate love, joy that overflows, peace that subdues, patience that endures, kindness in action, a life full of virtue, faith that prevails, gentleness of heart and strength of spirit. We see a people in love with the Word of God again.

We see every level of influence in our city saturated with a heart-level motivation called Love. We see defenders of justice stepping up into every realm of influence and pleading the cause of the orphan, the widow and the poor.

We see poverty, homelessness, drug addiction and human trafficking all as historical footnotes in Tampa Bay’s history books. We see the family values of God ruling every decision in our public and private schools. We see every entity that degrades people by way of prejudice, racism, xenophobia, hatred and bigotry being uprooted from Tampa Bay. We see all of this in our lifetime, paving the way for peace to reign in the lives of generations to come.
OUR STATEMENT OF FAITH

"Faith comes by hearing."

Romans 10:17

This Church accepts the Bible as the revealed will of God, the all-sufficient rule of faith and practice, and for the purpose of maintaining general unity of statements of faith.

The Scriptures both Old and New Testament are the inspired, infallible revelation of God to man and the authority of faith and conduct.

The one true God has revealed Himself as the “I AM,” the Creator, and Redeemer of mankind.

The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, death and resurrection, and ascension to the right hand of God.

Man’s only hope is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ. Salvation is by faith through grace and demonstrated in repentance.

(a) Water Baptism. In the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit and by full immersion. (b) Holy Communion. The Lord’s Supper consisting of the Body and Blood represented in the fruit of the vine and bread.

According to Acts 1:8 and Acts 2:4, the believer received power when the Holy Spirit comes upon them, with one of the signs being speaking in other tongues, along with other gifts.

The act of separation from that which is evil, and dedication unto God.

The church is the representative of Jesus on earth and is to carry out the Great Commission.

A divinely called and scripturally ordained minister has been provided by God to lead the church in evangelization, worship, building the body, and general leadership of the church.

Is provided for today by the Scriptures and included in the atonement for our sins.

The resurrection of the just is the blessed hope of the body of Christ.

There will be a final judgment at which all men will be judged.

All of God’s children will reign forever in a new heaven and a new earth.

We believe that because God our Creator established marriage as a sacred institution between one man and one woman, the idea that marriage is a covenant only between one man and one woman has been the traditional definition of marriage for all of human history (“Traditional Definition of Marriage”).

Because of the longstanding importance of the Traditional Definition of Marriage to humans and their relationships and communities, and, most importantly, the fact that God has ordained that marriage be between one man and one woman, as clearly conveyed in God’s inerrant Scriptures, including for example in Matthew 19:4-6 where in speaking about marriage Jesus referred to the fact that “he which made them at the beginning made them male and female,” the Church hereby creates this policy, which shall be known as the “Marriage Policy.”

Under this Church’s Marriage Policy, the Traditional Definition of Marriage is the only definition of marriage that will be recognized or accepted. No trustee, elder, officer, employee, servant, agent, or any person, corporation, organization, or entity under the direction or control of this Church shall commit any act or omission, or make any decision whatever, that would be inconsistent with, or that could be perceived by any person to be inconsistent with, full support of this Church’s Marriage Policy and strict adherence to the Traditional Definition of Marriage rather than any alternative to the Traditional Definition of Marriage.

This Church’s Marriage Policy specifically prohibits acts or omissions including but not limited to permitting any Church assets or property, whether real property, personal property, intangible property, or any property or asset of any kind that is subject to the direction or control of the Church, to be used in any manner that would be or could be perceived by any person to be inconsistent with this Church’s Marriage Policy or the Traditional Definition of Marriage, including but not limited to permitting any church facilities to be used by any person, organization, corporation, or group that would or might use such facilities to convey, intentionally or by implication, what might be perceived as a favorable impression about any definition of marriage other than the Traditional Definition of Marriage. We believe this Church’s Marriage Policy is based upon God’s will for human life as conveyed to us through the Holy Scriptures, upon which this Church has been founded and anchored, and this Marriage Policy shall not be subject to change through popular vote; referendum; prevailing opinion of members or the general public; influence of or interpretation by any government authority, agency, or official action; or legal developments on the local, state, or federal level
